Delayed Minnesota Medicaid Payments

Dear Minnesota Medicaid Pharmacy Provider,

We have received numerous calls (more than I am able to return individually) regarding the delay in June 2011 Minnesota Medicaid Payments.  This shift in budgeting done last year and its effect was unknown to us until this month.  It is our understanding that June payments will be delayed one month.  If you have further questions please call the Minnesota Medicaid Department or Sarah Drake at 651-431-2504.

With regard to the potential governement shutdown July 1, 2011, it is our understanding that pharmacy provider payments were deemed an essential service by Governor Dayton and then this and other items were challenged by the Republicans and the court will decide whether the governor is acting within his power to do this.  This decision has not been yet determined.

What should you do?  Encourge your legislators to work for a budget solution as soon as possible.

You are probably aware of other services related to pharmacy that may be affected.  Those include pharmacy licensures, pharmacist licensures, the PMP program, loan forgiveness for pharmacy students etc.  Be aware that this shutdown will delay this services.  For more Board of Pharmacy and licensure questions please visit their website for the latest information or call their offices at 651-201-2830.

We do understand what a bad situation this is for you as pharmacy providers and have communicated with decision makers the importance of pharmacy services AND the need to avoid a shutdown if possible.

Sincerely,

Julie K. Johnson, Pharm.D.
